Peripheral smear from a patient with microgranular variant of AML-M3 (WHO AML with t(′15;17)(q22;q12). The microgranular promyelocyte on the left has the classical bilobed nuclear shape with scant azurophilic granules in the cytoplasm. A faggot cell is shown in the middle with bundles of Auer rods. The promyelocyte on the right has a loculated, cerebriform-like nucleus and a few azurophilic granules.
