Bone marrow aspirate from this case shows the spectrum of nuclear shapes characteristic of microgranular AML-M3. Blast cells with high nuclear/cytoplasmic ratios can be seen in the center of the image. Bilobed promyelocytes are scattered throughout thesmear showing variable cytoplasmic granularity. A few promyelocytes have a irregular cerebriform nuclear shape. One of the abnormal promyelcytes shows cytoplasmic vacuolization.
