The main cause of arsenic poisoning is from ground water that naturally contains high concentrations of arsenic. Symptoms of arsenic poisoning include headaches, confusion, vomiting, hematuria, cramping muscles, hair loss, severe diarrhea, and drowsiness. Prolonged exposure causes changes in fingernail pigmentation called leukonychia. Pancytopenia may occur with nuclei having a cloverleaf appearance.
