Shown is a metastatic spindle cell melanoma involving a groin lymph node. The spindled melanoma cells (upper left and bottom left) primarily involve the lymph node sinuses and interfollicular zone while sparing the follicles and germinal centers. At low power, it can be difficult to distinguish the subtle spindle cells from the normal lymph node architecture. The spindled cells are positive for Melan A and S100.
