Neutrophil clumping at edge of peripheral blood smear caused variation in absolute neutrophil count from automated (1.5) to manual (0.6) differential. Manual differential by tech did not include clumped cells and thus resulted in false low ANC. Rare case reports secondary to IgM or temperature related clumping.
