Marginal zones are typically not present in peripheral lymph nodes, but may be prominent in mesenteric nodes. The marginal zone B cells have slightly irregular nuclei, resembling centrocytes, but more abundant, pale cytoplasm. Marginal zone B cells are predominantly post-germinal center, memory B cells.
