Another high-magnification view of the malignant T-cell prolymphocytes is shown. The cytoplasm in each cell is basophilic. There is a suggestion of cytoplasmic vacuolization in the upper cell and a hof in the lower cell. The nuclear contours are irregular, and the chromatin is clumped. Two nucleoli are noted in the cupper cell but only one in lower cell.

On flow cytometry, these cells showed a normal T-cell immunophenotype. However, in other cases of T-cell PLL coexpression, CD4 and 8 may be noted. This case demonstrated an inversion of chromosome 14, a finding seen in ∼80%; of the cases.
