Neuroblastoma rosette in bone marrow aspirate of a-13 month old male infant with a supra-renal mass. Peripheral blood shows marked anemia and few circulating atypical cells. Bilateral bone marrow aspirates show depressed trilineage hematopoiesis with extensive infiltration by sheets and rosettes of cohesive metastatic cells. On bone marrow biopsy, these metastatic sheets are positive for synaptophysin, chromogranin A NSE and CD56 immunostains. The infiltration is involving almost 90% of the core biopsies provided.
