Mastocytosis Involving Colon

This patient is a 65-year-old female with iron deficiency anemia and a 3.5cm duodenal mass that appears tooriginate within the muscularis propria.  

This image set shows multiple images from a cecal biopsy depicting mastocytosis involving colon. The findings are concerning for involvement by systemic mastocytosis. 

A recent study suggested that atypical mucosal mast cell infiltrates in asymptomatic patients may not indicate systemic disease.
