Blast and abnormal eosinophils in a patient with AML with inv(16)(p13.1q22); CBFB-MYH11

The large basophilic (blue) colored granules in the eosinophils are the clue to the diagnosis. These eosinophils demonstrate abnormal weak chloroacetate esterase positivity not seen in normal eosinophils which are negative.
