Kikuchi's lymphadenopathy is a necrotizing adenopathy of uncertain etiology. It is seen most commonly in Asiatic population and predominantly in young women. Usually the cervical nodes are involved; however, any nodal area may be involved, and systemic symptoms may be part of the presentation. The course is benign with spontaneous resolution occurring over weeks to months. Although the nodal architecture may be partially intact, the prominent feature of the disorder is patchy areas of necrosis randomly distributed throughout the node with histiocytic proliferation. An area of necrosis is shown on the image. In addition, there are areas of amorphous fibrinoid deposition present.
