Although immunohistochemistry for ALK and CD30 can be essential for detecting morphologically occult bone marrow involvement in ALK-positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma, this case from a child shows extensive involvement, with sheets of blasts occupying most of the marrow space in this field. Note small populations of admixed eosinophils and erythroid precursors, and residual hematopoiesis seen at left and along the bottom of the image (hematoxylin and eosin).
