Touch preparation of a lymph node with Langerhans cell histiocytosis (H&E stain).  These are made by gentle applying a slide to the cut surface of a piece of tissue and staining the cells which exfoliate from the tissue.  Although there are many small mature red blood cells in the background, large neoplastic Langerhans cells with abundant pink predominate among nucleated cells, which also include fewer numbers of lymphocytes, neutrophils and eosinophils.
