H & E: Image depicts patch stage of mycosis fungoides of the skin as shown by the presence of Pautrier’s microabscesses and epidermal infiltration of Sezary-Lutzner cells. Lymphocytes in mycosis fungoides have a characteristic clear space (halo) around them and are seen lining up along the dermal-epidermal junction.

Immunohistochemistry: Typical immunophenotype includes CD3+, CD4+, CD8-, CD30-. The image shows positive staining with CD3 depicting epidermotrophic ‘string of pearls’ infiltrate along the basal layer.
