Photomicrograph of a peripheral blood smear with prominent schistocytes. Schistocytes are fragmented erythrocytes which are identified as having two pointed edges and are occasionally likened to helmets. Mild polychromasia is also present in this image. This patient was on tacrolimus after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
