Acute myeloid leukemia after therapy with decitabine x 2 cycles with persistent blasts expressing CD34 (small CD34+ cells) admixed with abnormal strong staining for CD34 in dysplastic megakaryocytes (on the left side).

Frequently, abnormal staining is seen in AML and MDS megakaryocytes for CD34 although this aberrant staining is not specific and can be seen in megaloblastic anemia and other autoimmune conditions.
