Early erythroid precursors like pro-erythroblast and basophilic erythroblast (white arrow) were rather sparse in the smears. 

18% blasts with agranular cytoplasm, high N:C ratio and fine chromatin were found on differential count. CD34 immunostain confirmed the blast nature in 10% of these cells. These agranular blasts (black arrow) can be distinguished from early erythroid precursors by lesser basophilia of cytoplasm, finer chromatin and smaller size.
