A 54 year-old man was refered to our center for evaluation for a presumtive diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia M2 of the FAB classification. Upon examination of bone marrow smear there were hypergranular promyelocytes, with abundant cytoplasm and round/oval nuclei, some of which presented abundant Auer Rods (Faggot cells). Report of bone marrow PCR showed t(15;17)(PML-RARA),bcr1,L-form.
