Platelet satellitism is a unique, uncommon,in vitro phenomenon seen in PBS from EDTA,  leading to platelets adhering to polymorphs and form rosette. This may lead to misdiagnosis of thrombocytopenia unless PBS examined. Recollection of sample in citrate is required for platelets count. This phenomena is thought to be due to immune mechanism through formation of Ab which bridges platelets & polymorphs in EDTA exposed blood sample.
