Bone marrow aspirate of a patient with acute erythroid leukemia (formerly known as pure erythroid leukemia, AML M6). We can see abundant proerythroblasts with round nuclei, finely dispersed chromatin and one or more prominent nucleoli. The cytoplasm of these cells is deeply basophilic and variably vacuolated.
