Peripheral blood smear from a patient with BCR‑ABL1–positive chronic myeloid leukemia showing a basophilic myelocyte (right) with dense, coarse, dark basophilic granules partially obscuring the nucleus. A myelocyte (left) with an oval nucleus, fine chromatin, and pale cytoplasm lacking prominent granulation is also present. Expansion of basophil precursors is a characteristic finding in chronic‑phase CML.
