Bone marrow aspirate smear reveals a giant pronormoblast with a round nucleus, finely dispersed chromatin, and deeply basophilic cytoplasm with multiple cytoplasmic blebs ("dog-ear" appearance), a classic morphological hallmark of parvovirus B19 infection. Serologic testing confirmed parvovirus infection in the patient. (Wright-Giemsa stain, oil immersion view.)
