Extreme thrombocytosis (platelet count 5,018 x 109/L) accompanied by severe basophilia (basophil count 2.2 x 109/L) on peripheral blood film from a 73-year-old lady with chronic myeloid leukaemia. Of note, haemoglobin was 92g/L, absolute neutrophil count 7.0 x 109/L, absolute lymphocyte count 2.4 x 109/L, and monocyte count 1.2 x 109/L.
