Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma desmin immunostain with entrapped skeletal muscle

High-power image of desmin immunostain performed on primary site (forearm mass) of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma from a child whose tumor had metastasized to the bone marrow. Running vertically through the image are three skeletal muscle fibers. Desmin is an intermediate filament expressed by cells with muscle differentiation.
