59 yr-old man with AML and FLT3 ITD mutation was treated with standard 7+3 chemotherapy and 14 day course of midostaurin. He developed fusariosis during the period of severe neutropenia, for which he recieved liposomal amphotericin B and voriconazol. Bone marrow aspiration after recovery revealed <5% blasts, increased number of macrophages with abundant dark greenish-brown inclusions, as well as hemophagocytosis. Perls Prussian blue stain revealed increased iron stores. Blood and bone marrow cultures after treatment showed no growing of Fusarium spp.
